I built Rootd largely on my own, so I tend to pay attention to people who are building things too, especially when they are doing it in an unconventional way. Here are some builders I respect:

Alacrity Canada
I ran its digital marketing bootcamp, which went on to work with more than 6,000 small businesses across British Columbia. It remains one of the clearest lessons I have had in what actually prevents a small company from growing.

Andy Sommer
Andy runs a holding company in Houston and built a coworking space inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s Junto club. I appreciate people who think carefully about both the idea and the name.

Bharat Nain
Bharat has spent two decades supporting FIRST Robotics while also leading engineering teams. He writes thoughtfully about belonging, which is not a subject you often see approached through an engineer’s lens.

Nick Gray and his team helped me build this site. You can find more people across the network at slashfriends.org.
