I caught up with Filmosity for a quick interview right after my fireside chat at Vancouver Startup Week.

Interview summary

I am Ania Wysocka, the founder of Rootd, an app for anxiety and panic attack relief.

Rootd has an SOS tool for the moments you are actually experiencing a panic attack, plus guided content for managing panic and anxiety over time.

Rootd started small. It began as things I was drawing in my own journals, and then turned into a project to recreate that support as an app anyone could carry in their pocket.

Today we have over four million downloads, more than 100,000 reviews from people sharing how it has helped them, and a 4.8 out of 5 star rating. We also work with health insurance, so doctors can prescribe Rootd directly to patients for those moments when a doctor is not available.

Why this matters to me

The point of a panel like this is to show that there are different paths to entrepreneurship.

Bootstrapping Rootd changed my life, and I hope people walk away inspired to build something of their own too.

Final thoughts

Thank you to Filmosity for the conversation, and to Vancouver Startup Week for having me. If you want to check out the app, you can find Rootd on the App Store and the Play Store.
